Daikin Chemical is a world leader in the development, manufacture and sales of fluoropolymers, fluoroelastomers, fluorochemicals and fluorocoatings. This presentation will cover the study of Daikin’s new PPA grade DA-910 interactions with hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) additives. Daikin DA-910 is based on a functionalized fluoroelastomer and is suitable for all types of film production including lamination film. HALS is used in producing agricultural films to improve UV stability, scavenge radicals which are produced by weathering and stabilize thermal degradation. HALS and PPA have a tendency to chemically react with each other and HALS prevents the PPA from bonding onto the die wall. This study would explain how Daikin’s PPA DA-910 eliminates melt fracture, die build-up and provides faster coating time with the presence of HALS as compared to other PPA grades.
