In order to understand the scavenging effect of snowfall, the study of physical and chemical characteristics of single snow crystals, especially individual residual particles, is indispensable. In the present study, to collect snow crystal individually and to identify elemental composition of individual residue particles retained in them, an orchestration of the replication and microbeam techniques was attempted. Various elements retained in individual residual particles, most of which became incorporated into the snow crystals by impaction scavenging of soluble and insoluble aerosol particles, were successfully analyzed. Every component retained in and/or on individual residues existed as a mixed state of soil and anthropogenic components including sulfur.
