Phosphate Monomers and Surfactants: Their Applications in Emulsion Polymerization and Coating Formulations

The use of phosphate ester surfactants has been shown to benefit paint formulations either by use as emulsifier in the preparation of the waterborne binder or as an additive in the formulation of the paint. Properties that include improved gloss, promotion of color acceptance and development, better block resistance, enhanced flash rust inhibition and improved open time yet does not promote water sensitivity as can be seen from other types of anionic surfactants.
