Breaking the Myth of VAE Technology//The Challenges of Low VOC/Green Coatings

The coatings industry has changed dramatically over the last decade as government and independent organizations have continually implemented regulations and standards in the ongoing effort to be more environmentally friendly. These changes have caused paint companies to re-evaluate technologies they use to focus on providing environmentally friendly products while still achieving the performance their customers have come to expect. This in turn has caused raw material suppliers to develop new technologies to fit these new formulations. Vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymers (VAEs) are inherently more environmentally friendly than traditional coatings grade binders based on their nature and are well suited to providing a broad range of performance while meeting a variety of definitions of 'green'.
