The Embedded Training System (ETS) of Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. (KAI) is developed by the Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. and contains several functions of simulation for the air-to-air and air-to-ground combat training. The key section of these simulation functions is the modeling of air-to-air, air-to-ground weapons and targets. The virtual air-to-ground weapons in KAI ETS include a bomb, air-to-ground gunnery, rocket, and air-to-ground Electro-Optical missile. The virtual air-to-air weapons include Within Visual Range (WVR) short range missile, Beyond Visual Range (BVR) medium range missile, and air-to-air gunnery. The virtual targets in KAI ETS are air-to-air maneuvering targets and air-to-ground fixed targets on the surface. For each release of air-to-ground weapon, the attack effectiveness can be measured by the quantitative value such as miss-distance from bulls-eye. For each release of air-to-air weapon, the attack effectiveness can be presented by the qualitative value such as hit/miss criteria. In this research, the target behavior for various tactical conditions will be simulated, and for those situations the training procedure using KAI ETS will be set up. The test results of flyable OFP with System Integration Laboratory (SIL) are presented. The evaluation by test pilots and the syllabus coverage of a fighter pilot training using KAI ETS are presented with the proposed engagement modeling of KAI embedded training system.
