Impedance Characterization of Hydro Generator Stator Windings and Preliminary Results of FRA Analysis

Experimental investigations of the frequency response of the impedance of hydro generator windings are reported. The impedance was measured in both series and parallel mode over a frequency range of 10Hz to 1MHz. Measurements on the phase end and the neutral end are compared. The possibility of increasing service life by means of neutral/phase end reversal on old machines is discussed.
