We theoretically propose a scheme to construct an omnidirectional linearpolarizer by using the uniaxial dielectric-magnetic material (UDMM). Corresponding to the dispersion relation for the UDMM, the wave-vector normal surface for the two eigen-modes is the combination of one double-sheeted hyperboloids and one ellipsoids. We study the propagation of electromagnetic waves in UDMM and find that, the UDMM can render one of TE and TM waves being totally reflected, while the other being totally transmitted. Therefore, such UDMM is a natural candidate for omnidirectional linear polarizers that have great advantages over conventional counterparts. Simulated results are given and validates the theoretical analysis.
