Reliability Calculations within the Limits of Computer Accuracy

摘要

This paper deals with new algorithm which enables accurate numerical expression of a highly reliable complex system that appears within the limits of computer accuracy. From the point of view of computational efficiency the most suitable reliability indicator for the quantification of a highly reliable system is the probability of a non-functional state in a course of time or unavailability coefficient. A reasonable algorithm for an error-free sum of non-negative numbers is explained within the section 3 of the paper. The application of the knowledge for determination of probability behaviour of a system designed by an acyclic graph is further demonstrated. Example of computation of the unavailability coefficient of an actual highly reliable selective system is also showed.
