摘要

State mercury control regulations for coal-fired power plants have driven the commercial application of powdered activated carbon as a mercury control technology. Pending federal requirements under the newly-promulgated Mercury and Air Toxics Standard (MATS) require mercury emissions standards to be met by all coal-fired EGUs in 2015. These new standards are driving the advancement of activated carbons to provide more options and operational flexibility to coal-fired power plant operators. This paper presents results from testing ADA Carbon Solutions' PowerPAC Premium Plus and next-generation FastPAC Premium products at Midwest Generation's Fisk Station in November 2011. Various potential issues faced by EGUs for mercury compliance with powdered activated carbon (PAC) injection are discussed.
