Over the past few years POSCO has been breaking new ground and expanding its business by implementing relatively new forming technologies such as tube hydro-forming (THF) and hot press forming (HPF). POSCO has become a well known solution provider for THF and HPF parts mainly focused on the Asian automotive market. Prototyping facilities for THF and HPF have been built followed by several mass production lines. As of today POSCO supplies various THF and HPF parts manufactured in various steel grades.This paper is focusing on the effect of welding on part durability for parts manufactured with DP590 and shows the development of THF parts by using high strength steel such as dual phase steel DP590 and DP780.
