Having characterized the oxide-ion conductivity of (Ba_(1-x-y)Sr_xLa_y)InO_(2.5+y) as a function of temperature, oxygen partial pressure and unit cell free volume, we found that the compound (Ba_(0.3)Sr_(0.2)La_(0.5))InO_(2.75) was an appropriate material in this system for the SOFC electrolyte. We fabricated a single cell of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) using this electrolyte with moistened 10% hydrogen balanced by argon as a fuel gas, and air as an oxidant gas. In experimental tests, the maximum power density of this cell reached 0.60 (W/cm~2) at the operating temperature of 800°C. The best performing cathode and anode was composed of Fe doped (La_(0.6)Sr_(0.4))MnO_(3±δ) and Ni.
