The β-follicle stimulating hormone (β-FSH) gene was analyzed as candidate gene for reproductive traits and piglets weight traits in Large White x Landrace sows. The experimental material included 1,627 sows and totally 7,622 litter records, β-FSH gene was genotyped by PCR-RFLP (HaeⅢ) technique. It was found that β-FSH gene had significant effect on means birth weight in the Ist parity and number born alive in 2nd-5th parities. This gene had highly significant effect on total number born, means birth weight and means weaning weight gain in 2nd-5th parities. These results indicated that β-FSH gene may use to marker-assisted selection affecting alteration of favorable allele frequencies.
