Luminescent phosphors of Tm3+ & Er3+:Ca4GdO(BO3)3 have been prepared by a solid state reaction technique. For these two powder phosphors, XRD. SEM and FTIR have been carried out to understand their structural properties. Emission spectra and lifetimes of the prominent visible emission bands have been measured. For Tm3+:Ca4GdO(BO3)3 phosphor, a blue emission band of (1D23F4) at 452 nm with exci = 356 nm and for Er3+:Ca4GdO(BO3)3 phosphor, an intense green emission band of (4SI15/2) at 561 nm with exci = 377 nm have been observed. Emission from these phosphors, have been explained in terms of relevant energy level schemes.
