Through eccentric compression experiment on eight high strength concrete-filled square steel tube short columns (CFSST), the mechanics behavior of the short columns had been researched. The result shown that eccentric ration is the primary factor to influence the loading capacity of high strength CFSST short columns, the confinement effect provided square steel tube to the core concrete will decrease with the increase of eccentric ration, the increase of load capacity reduced gradually, and the ultimate load dropped down obviously. The influence of concrete strength to loading capacity will decrease gradually with the increase of eccentric ration also. When the eccentric ration is great than some value, the decrease or increase of concrete strength has not effected on the bearing capacity of the component. By the experiment results, it is also discovered that the mechanic model of high strength CFSST short columns subjected to eccentric compression is likely ideal elastic-plastic body, and there is only elastic range and plastic range in the loading-deformation curve.
