A Community Service Learning Course in a Computer Engineering and Computer Science Department

摘要

The majority of Computer Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) students' class-related time is typically spent in a combination of lecture, lab and private study. Unlike the social sciences where community involvement is often a required part of an undergraduate degree, CECS students rarely participate in Community Service Learning (CSL) courses as part of their major. This paper reports the results of a CSL course in a CECS department where CECS students taught robotics to high school students in their community. The report includes assessments by the CECS students, the faculty at the high school and the CECS faculty member responsible for the course.
