This paper demonstrates a new algorithm based on average slopes and average intercepts from a sample of minutias. This proposed algorithm is utilized for matching minutia in the area of fingerprint. We compare the proposed algorithm with some of the existing algorithms. In particular, we conduct a statistical distribution of the average slopes, average intercepts and average distances to generate the matching scores. The analysis of those scores has been performed with the existing techniques. Finally we discuss the relative merits of this new algorithm from a simulation study. Our study demonstrates promising results which enhances the biometric system performance.
