The paper describes the approach to the intended purpose of Restoring and Preservation of a Historic Ship and or Ships. The need for the necessary finance and the suitable qualifications of the personnel required for the task. The need for adequate insurance cover, both during the restoration and the preservation period to follow. It includes also the several cases of restoration/preservation here in Australia known to the author, not only of those which were successful, but those which unfortunately have fallen by the wayside. It is concluded with a list of publications which the author considers would be most helpful for the completion of the task.
