This paper presents a software approach towards complete automation of the Oil Discharge Monitoring and Control System (ODMCS) on-board the oil tankers and other vessels. The paper discusses the features, algorithms, data structures, software implementation issues and application areas of software designed for ODMCS. A hardware model for the implementation of the ODMCS is also presented. The software also has a graphical user interface to show the simulation of ODMCS. The software is designed using advanced object oriented programming (OOP) approach. A class library was developed for various subsystems in the ODMCS. The software was designed, developed and tested using C++ programming language. The working of the simulator is validated against the standard data and the results are verified.
