In this study, composition range was evaluated for spinodal decomposition in multi-component oxide glass by thermodynamic analyses, on the condition that glass was regarded as super-cooled liquid phase. The occurrence of spinodal decomposition in the glass was confirmed experimentally corresponding to the predicted miscibility gap. Porous glass was obtained from spinodal decomposition in multi-component oxide glass containing B_2O_3 by leaching one of the separated phases with acid solutions. Thus, it is expected that porous glass materials can be created from waste slag using the phase separation in glass.
