The mechanical properties of flat steel products widely depend on the thermomechanical schedules applied during rolling. In this work, a software capable of generating rolling schedules which will produce the desired mechanical properties is presented. This software combines a schedule design module with a hot deformation microstructure model. As a first stage in testing this software, for a C-Mn steel, the software was requested to generate schedules which would lead to certain predefined austenite grain sizes, and these schedules were then run by means of hot torsion testing. According to the results, it was determined that the software is capable of designing rolling schedules to obtain the predetermined grain sizes.
