Liquid Quenchant Fluidized Bed Technology in the manufacture of steel tire cord

摘要

The newly developed quenching and soaking technique, Liquid Quenchant Fluidized Bed Technology, overcomes diameter and chemistry concurrency limitations of conventional heat treating processes while consuming a fraction of operating energy. This paper covers benefits of the newly patented Liquid Quenchant Fluidized Bed Technology as compared to liquid lead or air-fluidized sand patenting. The optimized final microstructure results in property enhancements like patented tensile strength and RA, work hardening rate and final filament strength, filament ductility, fine drawability, and fatigue resistance.
