The gap between one-off device demonstration in the laboratory and volumemanufacture is getting ever greater as device features become ever smaller. Thechallenges of achieving low-cost manufacture for tunnel devices sets the contextfor even greater challenges confronting the eventual manufacture of any activemesoscopic devices.
