In this work, fullerene thin film was successfully coated onto the silicon thick film anodes using plasma assisted evaporation technique. The main aim is to make a surface modified electrode such that the volume expansion effect can be minimized. High resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) and Raman results confirmed that amorphous carbon film was indeed coated onto the surface of silicon electrode. Electrochemical measurements showed that the electrochemical property of silicon thick film can be improved by fullerene coating. It has been confirmed also by impedance analysis in which the charge transfer property is enhanced in comparison to that of bare silicon film.
