Web Event: A Platform-Independent Concept for Systematic Modeling, Implementing and Generating Web Applications

Currently, web application development process tends to be labor-intensive, technology-dependent, and in many cases ad hoc. The challenge is to integrate harmoniously three apparently "conflicting" factors: (a) the hypermedia nature of the user-system interactions, (b) the low-level HTTP-based web client-server communication, and (c) the strong dependency on adopted, or available, web technologies. This paper proposes "web event" as a fundamental concept to address this challenge. We aim to show that the proposed concept can be used in a practical and systematic manner for modeling, implementing and generating web applications.
