Interpipe Niko Tube OJSC TPA 30-102 tube rolling plant (TRP) was set into operation in 1970. Till now, the principal engineering solutions realized in its construction remain unchanged. There are no systems or equipment at the mill designed for computerized control and management of dimensional ac-curacy of tubes during their rolling. In comparison with the up-to-date tube rolling plants, this condition makes the TRP less effective from the point of view of the product quality and production costs. At up-to-date tube rolling plants, the product yield is about 80-95% of the volume of the taken metal (depending on the set of products, workflow and the mill configuration). Metal losses resulting mainly from deviation from specified dimensions and (to a less degree) burning metal losses bring about increase in expenses on purchase of billets amounting 50-70% of the total seamless tube production ex-penses. Thus, deviations from specified dimensions are an important factor effecting both structure of the production costs and competitiveness of an enterprise.
