In this article actual work to design a feed-in tariff system for wind power in Finland is reported. During the process several design options were considered and new innovative solutions were drafted. First, feed-in tariffs are often differentiated to prevent over compensation due to the site dependent production costs. Some of the presented options have not been proposed before. Second, market prices are good signals to direct the behaviour of wind power developers and producers and feed-in tariff design should not prevent this. The proposed tariff design promotes wind power production during hours of higher electricity prices.
