Recently KAERI launched a design project of the Advanced HANARO Reactor (AHR) to be prepared to future needs of a new research reactor. The AHR adopts basically the HANARO design concept to cope with the philosophy of proven technology, but many new ideas on improvements that were suggested during the last ten years of HANARO operation will be incorporated also into the AHR design. This paper presents how we modeled the AHR with the SRAC code system and the results of trial SRAC calculations of the k-eff of AHR. The SRAC keff's are quite different from the values of the MCNP, and the present over-simplified model seems to be the source of such large differences. We will make a rather detailed CITATION model later on.
