Undertaking educational processes requires the recognition of a historic background which is the starting point that leads to its invigoration. For this reason, this research paper does not overpass the merely exploratory view within its methodological aspect. This investigation deepens on the relationships that should prevail at the complex act of teaching. In addition, this is a study that involves the necessary relationships and strategies aimed at implementing a learning process based on competences through the description of methods that can be used in the educational practice. Consequently, it should be noticed that this is an educational model that can be applied not only in the School of Exact and Natural Sciences and the School of Administration, but also in other educational institutions. The design of strategies for the creation of a learning model based on competences proposed for the two Schools mentioned above is a process to perform an accurate diagnosis about the pedagogic function of the educators and the existing relationships with their students. The pedagogic models have implicit characteristics although it is traditionally believed that no model is being tacitly implemented. However, some pedagogic strategies are considered predominant so it is important to identify those learning styles that appear in the diagnosis stage. Through this investigation, the academic community will have some explanation about the elements, categories and variables that should be included in the pedagogic perspective and its relations with the general objectives of the teaching programs (taking into account the relations between pedagogy and curriculum) identifying weaknesses in the educational process of the students at the National University of Colombia--Branch of Manizales . The framework of this paper is based first on some statistics pertaining to the different branches of the National University of Colombia in the cities of Bogota, Medellin, Manizales, Palmira, Arauca, Leticia and San Andres; secondly, an investigation titled “Hermeneutics and analysis of the pedagogic models and didactic strategies in the curricular programs of Business Administration and Computer Systems Administration at the National University of Colombia--Branch of Manizales”, and thirdly, the preliminary results (surveys with students, and a technique of a focal group with professors of this university branch) obtained from the investigation titled “Pedagogic and assessing strategies for the adoption of a learning model based on competences in the undergraduate programs of the School of Exact and Natural Sciences and the School of Administration at the National University of Colombia--Branch of Manizales”.
