Modeling and simulation play an important role in the study of power systems, power electronics andrelated subjects. In this paper we present a procedure that uses different standard softwares andmodeling techniques together. Through this technique a student can see how Finite Element Analysis,Computer Aided Design, Numerical Calculation and Circuit Simulation Tools can be used jointly tosolve an electronic component modeling and simulating procedure. As an example of IntegratedComputer Science and Education, we present an application for modeling inductors with ferrite coresfor power electronic circuits. A walkthrough of the procedure including examples of simulations andmeasurements is shown. The propose procedure will help students to gain a better understanding ofthe circuits involved in power electronics and provide them with up-to-date knowledge of electronicengineering, including design and modeling techniques.
