Water is one of the essential requirements for effective school administration at all levels ofeducational institution. In Nigeria’s rural primary schools teachers, pupils and other stakeholdersconsume water daily either through liquid or food form. This of course, has contributed immensely totheir survival, maintenance of clean school environment and upkeep of other academic activities in theschool premises. Unfortunately, water supply in rural primary schools is utilized by teachers, pupilsand other stakeholders with mixed feelings considering its source of supply. In urban and rural primaryschools in Nigeria, sources of water supply differ and this has greatly affected the quality. Watersupply in rural primary schools in Nigeria are through well, rain and river whereas that of the urbanprimary schools are through tap water and bore hole. Against this background, this paper discussesthe state of water supply in Nigeria’s rural primary schools. The paper evolved an overview of sourcesof quality water supply in Nigeria’s rural primary schools. The paper also highlights the factors todetermine the sustenance of quality water supply in order to achieve effective primary schooladministration in rural areas. Finally, recommendations were made towards actualizing thesustenance of quality water supply in the administration of Nigeria's rural primary schools.
