Every year more data becomes available indicating the importance of selecting HALS based on properties other than just UV stabilization. Of primary importance is light stabilizing activity, but other attributes of stabilizing additives are becoming increasingly important as application specific performance attributes become better defined. Last years paper focused on oligomeric HALS and the importance of some of the ancillary properties such as non interaction with acidic species, compatibility with various polymers, impact on heat sealing performance, water carry over, interaction with processing aids and other application specific performance attributes.
