This paper simulates the noise spark current level in an automotive ignition system caused by capacitive discharge when the plug gap is breakdown. The noise spark current level is analyzed by making use of Rompe-Weizel formula for the spark resistance. From this paper, ignition noise spark current level could be examined analytically with respect to the plug dimensions and the gap breakdown voltage, and effects of the resistor on the noise current is studied here. This work done here is useful to research the automotive Electromagnetic Compatibility.
