COILSIM1D is a new proprietary model for predicting the product yields obtained from cracking gas and liquid feedstocks. It consists of the most extensive reaction network ever generated for steam cracking of hydrocarbons. This fundamental approach allows to obtain not only accurate simulation results for the main cracking products ethylene and propylene, but also for the C4 fraction, the pygas fraction and the fuel-oil fraction. The model has been validated based on more than 500 data coming both from industrial furnaces and from the LCT pilot plant installation. COILSIM1D also comes with a fast feedstock reconstruction method that allows reconstructing the composition of naphtha's, kerosenes, gasoils and vacuum gasoils based on their commercial indices. The combination of the feedstock reconstruction method with COILSIM1D allows to obtain accurate simulation results and provides a valuable tool to take optimal advantage of feedstock flexibility. Next to coupled furnace/reactor simulations, desired severity such as the propylene/ethylene outlet ratio can also be specified, further improving the user friendliness of COILSIM1D.
