Two new furnaces were designed for PIT Chemicals for the Plant 1 Expansion at Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The required NO_x limits were set at 66 mg/Nm~3 (0.035 lb/MMBtu). In order to be able to meet these stringent limits SOLAR Technology was used outside the US Gulf Coast for the first time. Several case studies were performed using CFD simulation to optimize the location of combustion elements. The results of the simulation were verified with extensive testing.
