CAPE-OPEN LOGGING AND TESTING TOOL SUPPORTS CAPE-OPEN THERMODYNAMIC INTERFACES VERSION 1.1

In 1994 BP suggested the development of a plug and play standard in process simulation software during discussions at a FOCAPD meeting held in Snowmass, Colorado. Subsequently, within the European Union (EU) funded PRIMA project (PRocess Industries Manufacturing Advantage), BP found support, particularly from ELF, BASF AG and Bayer AG, for submitting to the EU a proposal for a project aiming at process simulation software interoperability. This eventually resulted in a series of EU-funded projects, led by IFP, starting with CAPE-OPEN (Jan 1, 1997 till June 30, 1999) and followed by Global CAPE-OPEN (July 1, 1999 till March 31, 2002) and GCO Support projects. Global CAPE-OPEN was also labeled as an Intelligent Manufacturing Systems project facilitating the involvement of partners from Canada, US and Japan.
