Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from natural vegetable oils. In contrast to conventional fossil mineral diesel biodiesel is a "living" product. It can age on storage and become rancid just like the natural vegetable oils themselves. Ageing is the oxidation of the unsaturated fatty acid esters in the biodiesel at the air and it leads to the formation of acids and insoluble polymers in the biodiesel.
