The Proximal Interphalangeal Joint in Dupuytren's Disease

Dupuytren's contracture of the PIP joint can present a considerable surgical challenge. Secondary changes in the soft-tissue structures about the joint may prevent a normal range of motion of the joint once the primary deforming band of Dupuytren's tissue has been excised. A detailed knowledge of the anatomy is a prerequisite to understanding and managing the contracted PIP joint.
