In heat exchanging duties the mechanical strength is of outmost importance, especially the endurance to pressure variations. These variations can cause failures if not taken into consideration during design. Several different variants of fillers can be applied to one and the same basic heat exchanger plate design; Cu-, Ni- and Fe-fillers. These will result in significant differences in pressure fatigue resistance; which can be understood by the geometrical and metallurgical structure of the brazing joints.
