This paper is concerned with experimental results on the effects of pH, redox potential, pBr and pCl on mercury retention in scrubbers. It will be demonstrated that pH and redox potential are not main parameters of influence for mercury retention in scrubbers. The pBr and pCl values determine the Hg-vapor pressure of mercury salt solutions and their sensitivity towards the unwanted reduction to Hgel by sulfur dioxide and sulfites.
