A unique coil coating that shows superior performance in anti-dirt pickup has been developed. This coating is highly effective in preventing "tiger stripe-like" marks on architectural materials which are caused by dirt contained in rainfall. There are three main factors that make the system competitive as well as pragmatic within the coil coatings sector. Firstly, the anti dirt coatings system utilizes a novel chemical reaction called blocked carboxylic acid/epoxy reaction with an acid catalyst instead of a conventional melamine curing system or blocked isocyanatc. This reaction grants good chemical resistance to the coating film and also attains a longer shelf life. Secondly, a linear polyester grafted acrylic resin has been introduced. This resin significantly improves the flexibility and pigment dispersant of regular polyester grafted acrylic resin. Moreover, a specific additive is used which makes the surface of the coating film hydrophilic, enabling the coating to spontaneously repel dirt contained in rainfall.
