A mathematical base relevant for using the Lot Acceptance Sampling Plans (LASPs) to control large lots of different items purchased by companies that have complex manufacturing structures is elaborated in this paper. The differences between the main types of the LASPs (Dodge-Romig, Philips and MIL-STD 105E) are accentuated. Two different errors relevant for the LASPs are explained: type I error when a good lot is rejected and type II error when a bad lot is accepted.
