Polypropylene (PP) is widely used in automotive industry. On average, PP today makes approx. 4% of the total weight of a compact car (C-segment). Interior applications are a growth segment here, currently representing approx. 35% of total PP use in automotive. Examples for automotive interior applications comprise door trim and trunk trim panels as well as dashboards, pillar trims and center consoles. The requirements for interior compounds include balanced impact/stiffness properties and good scratch and mar resistance.
