Structure and Properties of Wool Keratin Coated Cotton Fiber

In this study, wool keratin solution was firstly obtained by dissolving the wool fibers in the sodium hydroxide solution and peroxide solution, and then was used to treat the dialdehyde cellulose cotton fibers. The technical conditions of oxidized cotton fiber treated with keratin solution were discussed, as well as the structure and properties of treated oxidized cotton fibers. Results showed that the tensile properties of oxidized cotton fiber changed little before or after keratin treatment, while their weight changed a lot. Covalent group occurred between oxidized cotton fibers and keratin indicated by FTIR spectra.
