Tissue Distribution of β-elemene Liposome in Rats

OBJECTIVE To investigate the tissue distribution of β-elemene liposome in rats. METHODS The HPLC method was established to determine the drug concentration in plasma and tissues. HPLC analysis was performed on a Diamonsil C18 column (4.6mmx250mm, 5μm) with mobile phase of methanol-acetonitrile-water (40:57:3). The UV detection wavelength was set at 210 nm. The column compartment temperature was set at 30°C. Blood and tissue drug concentration was determined after an iv administration β-elemene liposome and elemene injection in rats. RESULTS The HPLC method was fit for determining the tissue distribution of β-elemene. β-elemene liposome distributed mainly in liver, spleen and kidney in rats after an iv administration compared with elemene injection control group. CONCLUSION There is significant difference in heart, spleen and kidney tissue distribution of rats between β-elemene liposome and elemene injection.
