Preparation and in Vitro Evaluation of Trimebutine Maleate Gastric Floating Sustained-release Tablets

Trimebutine maleate gastric floating sustained-release tablets was prepared via direct compression. Its release rate and floating properties were determined and compared by the traditional basket method and the improved method. When the flow rate of peristaltic pump was 2.2ml·min-1 and rotation speed was 50r·min-1, the accumulative release profile of two methods was quite similar and obeyed Ritger-Peppas equation. The initial floating time and durative floating time was both 5 seconds and 12 hours respectively. Two methods can be utilized to control its quality in vitro, while the improved method can mimic conditions in vivo and has no negative effect on observing floating time visually.
