Based on MAA Dah-You's general theory of micro-perforated panel absorbers, the theoretical results of sound absorption coefficient of the micro-perforated panel absorber structure are selected and are applied to the acoustical designs of newly-built amphitheatre and gymnasium. Then, the sound reflection and absorption characteristics of the micro-perforated structure in the newly-built amphitheatre are investigated. The results of field testing and subjective assessment show that the proposed method is effective and feasible in the controlling of acoustics for amphitheatre and gymnasium.
