摘要

Mathematical modeling using computational fluid dynamics has been employed to assess the thermal losses in a steelmaking ladle. Tliennal losses lead to thermal stratification and convective flow inside the ladle. The effects of preheating, mineralogical and physical characteristics of the lining as well as thickness of slag cover have been studied and the results obtained from application of the model have been discussed.
