The CEA Saclay Laboratory is working on different national and international programs related to the seismic behavior of buildings, structures, components and equipment. With the seismic testing facility, many kinds of tests for model development, validation, calculation methods development, qualification, codification, and qualification of components can be carried out. One powerful and potential testing method that should be developed for the need of CEA Saclay is real-time substructure testing (RTST). Moreover, an available testing algorithm developed by Dorka can be applied and developed further for RTST by using shaking tables in CEA Saclay. From these, the project of common action between CEA Saclay and the University of Kassel has been set up. In this project, CEA Saclay has built a model including a two storey steel frame with two Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD) and conducted series of dynamic tests of full model on a shaking table. Then the University of Kassel has implemented the algorithm based on the formulation from the result of a German project (the DFG-project Do 360/7) and developed software for RTST. Series of RTSTs of two TMDs on two distributed shaking tables have finally been performed. By carrying out both dynamic tests of full model (reference tests) and RTSTs of TMDs, the algorithm and the results of RTSTs can be verified. This paper is going to introduce current achievements of the project such as (1) the development of control system for distributed substructure tests on shaking tables in CEA Saclay, (2) the model specimen including a two storey frame with two TMDs, (3) testing simulation of RTST of TMD and testing plan (4) the discussion on application of RTST on distributed shaking tables and upcoming work in the project.
