EVALUATION TEST RESULT OF THE FIRE CONTAINMENT CAPABILITY OF CONTAINERS

COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) components are used in the JEM payloads and opportunity to apply COTS components in the JEM payload will be increased to compromise with its development cost and schedule constraint. To evaluate the material safety of the COTS component, it should be performed as component level. And JAXA uses guideline of the JSC29353 for flammability evaluation of the COTS component. JAXA performed some tests to obtain further guideline in addition to the JSC29353, since there are a few indefinite areas in the JSC29353. This paper shows test results performed by JAXA and new findings obtained by the tests.
