When an elastic polishing tool of conductible materials is moved compliantly along free-form surfaces by robot, there is EDM. After driven by ultrasonic vibration, the compliant EDM becomes smoother and the polished surfaces are improved more obviously. During the process of the robotic compliant EDM polishing, many controllable factors influence on the polishing results. And among them, F_0 and θ have to be changed real-time along with the curvature of curved surface. In this paper, how does the spark discharge polishes the surface of workpiece is studied mathematically, and experiments of the above two real-time controlling factors is made on planes to improve the polished surfaces.
